"Hawaiian" Chili

I got the idea to make my own Hawaiian Chili recipe when my friend Tiffany told me she made a Hawaiian chicken chili. So tonight I started to play around with it and found that it tastes pretty stinkin' good! Sweet and savory going down and burns after you swallow leaving a slight burning on the lips....oh so good! Neighbors are having a kick out of it too right now!
NOTE: if you are a believer that chili has no beans then double the beef and seasoning and minus the beans.

1lb lean ground beef (if you want to try another meat, DO IT!)
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoon basil
2 teaspoon oregano
2 teaspoon all-purpose seasoning (I like simply organic)
3 cloves of finely chopped garlic (or 4 teaspoons of garlic powder)
2 teaspoon parsley
3 teaspoons of cumin
1 tablespoon of ginger
3 teaspoons of chipolte chili pepper
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon allspice
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons of salt
1(20oz) can of pineapple chunks, in juice
1(10oz) can mild rotel tomatoes
1/2 red onion, sliced and diced
1 can (15oz) ranch style beans
1 (27oz) can bushs' chili beans
1 (27oz) can bushs' pinto beans

Brown the beef with the garlic and onions, add in all the spices and olive oil. You can make this all in one pan if you use a very large skillet or pot. Once the beef is browned nicely and just starts to stick a little to the bottom, add in the pineapple, juice and all. Cook it into the beef about 5 minutes and slowly add in the beans and rotel tomatoes. I don't strain my beef because I use 93% lean ground beef and cooking it until it sticks the beef doesn't have a lot of grease in the pan. Now if you use any beef that is less than 90% lean, DO NOT add in the spices, onion, garlic and olive oil when browning. Brown it first, strain and then add them in. After adding in the beans and tomatoes slowly bring to a nice simmer, about 10 minutes. Taste and add accordingly, more salt or pepper chili powders for more heat, however you like it.
Serve as is or a dollop of sour cream, monterey cheeses anything that you usually like with your chili. A sweet honey cornbread would be delicious.

  1. Fresh ginger will really make this kick! Best to use the fresh, if you don't have it vouch for the powdered.
